Kiba Inuzuka is a member of the ninja Team 8 and Akamaru is his pet dog. Both of them are fiercely loyal to each other. On one hand, Akamaru helps Kiba in his combat against other ninjas and is of great use to Kiba in these battles because of his heightened senses. Kiba and Akamaru form a formidable double team and have defeated a number of ninjas in combat so far in the series.

On the other hand, Kiba has developed a number of dog characteristics in his own personality. He is as protective of his teammates as Akamaru is of him. He loves food that can be chewed upon. He is able to modify his ability as a ninja in combat and uses a number of dog characteristics to his advantage. He grows claws and travels on all four limbs, using them to gain speed, just like a dog. He is also very loyal to Akamaru and has endangered his own life to protect Akamaru many times.

Neji Hyuga has a very interesting background. Although he is a child prodigy of the Hyuga clan, he is sent to the clan’s lower house for training. This is very upsetting to young Neji because this exempts him from learning some of the finer techniques of the main house and receiving mentorship from the respected teachers of the main house. He openly rebels against the main house and often gets into verbal and physical fights with its members.

This makes Neji start doubting his capabilities and he starts to believe that his fate is predestined and that he is helpless in the face of it. It is only after the main protagonist Naruto Uzumaki defeats him in battle that his mindset changes. Naruto himself has proven his so-called destiny wrong by becoming a strong and well trained ninja, and Neji draws inspiration from that. He resolves that he will become strong and never lose another battle ever again.

Rock Lee is a member of ninja Team Guy and, in fact, he is the favorite student of the team leader Might Guy. Both Rock Lee and Might Guy spend much of their free time training together. Rock Lee has a lifelong burning ambition of becoming a respected ninja who only uses taijutsu.

While training with Might Guy, over time, Rock Lee comes to adopt a number of Guy’s habits and traits, even his perseverance. Under the tutelage of Might Guy, Rock Lee learns a number of very powerful and some completely forbidden techniques.

One of the many dangerous techniques that Rock Lee learns allows him to open all his eight chakras. However, doing this poses a huge risk to Lee’s own body and the only time he is allowed to use this technique is when something or someone that is dear to him is in some sort of danger.

Asuma Sarutobi is the leader of ninja Team 10. He is also the son of the Third Hokage, but he has been estranged from his father since when he was younger. In fact, his issue with his father became so severe at one point that he even left Konohagakure for a while. Unfortunately, the two did not have the opportunity to reconcile before the death of his father.

Asuma constantly smokes cigarettes, only stopping when something bothers him. He enjoys playing strategy games with his team mate Shikamaru Nara, even though Shikamaru is so good at them that Asuma can never defeat him.

Asuma has always been seen with Kurenai Yuhi, even though they have been constantly been denying any relationship. Currently, she is pregnant with Asuma’s child and there is no denying that they are in a relationship.

Asuma is killed by Hidan, a member of the criminal organization Akatsuki.

Ino Yamanaka is the member of ninja Team 10. She is the only female member of the team. She is also known to the main protagonist, Sakura Haruno, since childhood. In fact, they have been good friends since childhood and Ino has been very instrumental in Sakura developing her own identity.

However, trouble begins when they realize that they both liked the other main protagonist, Sasuke Uchiha. Sakura was so fond of Sasuke that she ended her friendship with Ino, so that they could both individually vie for his attention.

Thankfully, they do make up with each other later in the series, but the edge of competitiveness between them is still very evident.

In battle, Ino uses mind altering techniques by transferring her consciousness into the body of her opponents and gain control of their bodies. Once she has this control, she uses them to attack the rest of her opponents.

Shikamaru Nara is one of the members of ninja Team 10. He is Choji Akimichi’s best friend, because he does judge Choji by his huge size, but is only interested in his inner strengths. Shikamaru Nara is also extremely intelligent and is often considered to be a genius. It is believed that his character was created as a contrast to Sasuka Uchiha’s cool intelligence.

Shikamaru is so intelligent that even the leader of Team 10, Asuma Sarutobi, cannot defeat him in strategy games like shogi or go. His strategic thinking is so strong that he can devise complex strategies even in the heat of a battle. However, he has one huge drawback- he is also extremely lazy. Hi laziness comes in the way of him exploiting his intelligence to its full potential.

In battle, Shikamaru is able to control his shadow and merge it with that of his opponent. After that he can manipulate his opponent to merely follow his own moves.

Choji Akimichi is a member of the ninja Team 10 and is characterized by his deep love for food. He is so fond of eating that he always carries a snack with him and is found snacking whenever he is free. This eating habit has made Choji Akimichi extremely large, but he refuses to be called fat, instead resorting to the age old cliché of being big boned. He tend to feel insulted if and when he is called fat, and gets so upset that he is ready to start a battle.

Choji’s best friend is Shikamaru Nara since he doesn’t seem to have any problem with Choji’s size. He seems more interested in Choji’s inner strength. Choji has become so attached to him that he is willing to lay down his life to protect Shikamaru.

In battle, Choji can further increase his size to cause greater damage on impact.

Kurenai Yuhi is the leader of ninja Team 8, of which Hinata Hyuga is a member. As we know, Hinata was forsaken by her father because of her lack of self confidence. Kurenai Yuhi, on the other hand, is very close to Hinata and is akin to a parent figure in the absence of her real father. She is very encouraging of Hinata and is constantly trying to help Hinata overcome her weakness.

Kurenai Yuhi is always seen in the company of Asuma Sarutobi who is the leader of ninja Team 10. In Part I of the Naruto series, they continued to deny their relationship, but in Part II of the series, Kurenai Yuhi becomes pregnant with Asuma’s child and that officially puts a seal on their relationship.

Kurenai Yuhi can cast illusions and this is her character’s speciality.

Shino Aburame is a member of Team 8 and what characterizes him is his fascination for insects. He spends a lot of his free time in capturing and examining different bugs and insects. This is not surprising as every member of his family has been infused with ‘destruction bugs’ at birth. These bugs use the body of every family member as a hive and in return for this favor, they endow their powers in the person and do as they as commanded by him.

Shino uses this power very effectively during battles. He uses swarms of bugs against his opponents and they do not even realize what hit them. He also uses the bugs to absorb their chakra when they have been completely surrounded.

While his teammates consider him ‘creepy’, he does feel very strongly about them and feels extremely guilty on the occasions that he is unable to help them as much as would want to.

Hinata Hyuga is the eldest daughter of the Hyuga clan’s leader and is the heiress of the clan. However, she lacks self confidence and is unable to stand up for herself. This causes her father to disown her at a young age and leave her to be taken care of by her teacher Kurenai Yuhi. Kurenai Yuhi proves very helpful to Hinata and she makes it her life’s mission to prove her worth to her father. She starts training very aggressively and becomes stronger and more confident. She also becomes a member of ninja Team 8. This leads her father to start taking more interest in her training.

Hinata is infatuated with the main protagonist of the series, Naruto Uzumaki. She either immediately faints or blushes every time she sees him. Except for Naruto, everyone else in the ninja teams is aware of her feelings for him. Viewers are waiting for her to admit her feelings openly so that this relationship can reach the next level.
