Q: What is Naruto?
A: Naruto is a Japanese manga by Masashi Kishimoto, which was first published back in August 1997, in Japanese magazine Akamaru Jump. An anime adaptation was made not too long after.
Q: What is “manga”?
A: “Manga” literally means “magazine” in English. It’s also referred to as “graphic novels” in some western countries.
Q: What is “anime”?
A: “Anime” basically means and taken from the word “animation”. It basically refers to Japanese cartoon.
Q: So what is Naruto all about?
A: It tells a story about a young boy named Uzumaki Naruto, and his dream of becoming a Hokage (a village’s leader), while trying to save his best friend. Read more about the story plot here.
Q: Who are Naruto’s parents?
A: **SPOILER** It was revealed much later in Naruto manga, from the conversation between Jiraiya and Tsunade, that Naruto’s parents are Namikaze Minato (The Fourth Hokage) and Uzumaki Kushina (a shinobi from Rain Country).
Q: How did Hatake Kakashi get his sharingan eye?
A: He got the eye from his friend alias team mate Uchiha Obito, who gave the eye to him as a “present” while dying in a war.
Q: What are the goals of Akatsuki?
A: Akatsuki are after all the existing bijuu’s (one-tail to nine-tails demons) in order to use these bijuu’s for war, in which they planned to be the only organization every country would turn to, and which every country had to turn to in war, and which would make them being able to conquer the world.
Q: Who is Akatsuki’s leader?
A: **SPOILER** Akatsuki’s leader was revealed to be Pein, a very strong shinobi from Rain Country (and whom the whole country regard as “God”). Though, it was revealed later that Pein operated under the commands of Uchiha Madara.
Q: Who is Uchiha Madara?
A: **SPOILER** Uchiha Madara is the co-founder of Konoha Village, and reckoned to be the strongest from Uchiha clan. He then turned evil and died in a fight against Shodaime Hokage. But he is said to have actually been alive all along and currently living as alias of “Tobi”.
Q: Is Tobi really Uchiha Madara?
A: Apparently, yes. It has been said so in Naruto manga. The first time is back in Chapter 364, Volume 40, page 18, in which the person whom we originally knew as Tobi claimed that he has Uchiha Madara’s power. Later on it was much more apparent, in which in Chapter 396, the person that introduced himself to Sasuke claimed that he and Sasuke have met before as enemies (when Sasuke fight Deidara, so obviously he was referring to Tobi), and at the same time claimed himself as a “living and breathing Uchiha”.
Q: Are Kurenai and Asuma lovers?
A: **SPOILER** Yes. It has been revealed that Kurenai was pregnant with his child on one arc where he died fighting Akatsuki.
